A 41-year old Wareham man has died after jumping from the Bourne Bridge, according to State Police.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the death was a suicide, police said. The victim's name was not released.

Witnesses reportedly saw the man scale the fence on the Bourne Bridge and jump into the Cape Cod Canal at approximately 9:25 a.m.

Retrieved from the canal, the man was transported to Tobey Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:18 a.m.

Subsequent investigation located the man's vehicle near the foot of the bridge, police said.
