Wareham man facing heroin trafficking charge

A search of a room at the Rosewood Motel on Cranberry Highway in East Wareham turned up a number of different drugs, resulting in the arrest of 25-year-old Michael Blaine of Wareham Tuesday, October 1, at approximately 9 p.m.

According to reports, police observed "suspicious activity" at the motel, and officers approached Blaine after he walked out of the building.

Police say that when Blaine saw the officers he dropped the corner of a plastic baggy containing what the officers suspected was heroin.

Blaine was placed under arrest, and police obtained a warrant to search his motel room.

Police found approximately 23 grams of "suspected heroin", 23 1/2  Valium pills, three amphetamine salt pills and seven unidentified pills.

Police also found scales and corner cut baggies, and seized $700 from Blaine as evidence.

Blaine is charged with trafficking over 18 grams of heroin, possession of amphetamine salts and possession of Valium.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court Wednesday, October 2.
