Wareham Middle School's 9th annual Readers Become Leaders 5K run/walk will be held on Sunday, October 21.

Pre-registration will be held at 11 a.m. The race begins at noon at Minot Forest Elementary on Minot Avenue. Participants race down Great Neck Road to Stillman Drive, and then back to Minot Forest.

The course features costumed readers who read excerpts from their favorite books to entertain runners and walkers.

The registration cost is $20 and benefits Wareham Middle School's Readers Become Leaders program, which helps pay for materials, supplies, and some of the school's books and novels.

The top male and female runners will receive a $100 cash prize. The race is sponsored by Wareham Pediatrics.
