The Wareham Historical Society will honor Captain John Kendrick on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Captain Kendrick Maritime Museum, located at 100 Main Street in Wareham.

The society is observing the 225th anniversary of the Wareham resident's voyage of trade and discovery around Cape Horn and into the Pacific. Kendrick set out from Boston in October, 1787, with two small ships.

The state will recognize "Captain John Kendrick Day" on October 1.

The event will feature guest speaker Scott Ridley, author of Morning of Fire, which details Kendrick's journey in the Pacific.
