The Wareham Police Department will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 27. The day offers the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring pills for disposal to the Wareham Police Department, located at 2515 Cranberry Highway, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Only pills or patches will be accepted. The service is free and anonymous with no questions will be asked.

The National Drug Take Back Day initiative addresses a public safety and public health issue. Medicines that remain in home cabinets are susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse, officials say.
