Wareham Police arrested a man and a woman who fled an alleged shoplifting incident in Bourne on Saturday.

The pair, Amanda Felix, 33, of East Wareham and Johnny Cortez, 48, of Cambridge, were pulled over at about 9:30 a.m. at Garden Homes East after police were told be on the lookout for their vehicle.

Amanda Felix, 33, of East Wareham was arrested for operating after suspension and Cortez was arrested on an active warrant.

Officer Christopher Smith saw the vehicle on Cranberry Highway, near Main Avenue, and attempted to stop the car, police said. However, it pulled into Garden Homes East. The car then stopped and Felix jumped out and yelled something at Smith while the passenger moved into the driver’s seat. Police said Felix then tried to tell the officer she was not driving. Police said Smith had seen her operating the car and determined that she had a suspended driver’s license.

Felix was charged with operating after suspension. Cortez was also arrested after it was determined that he had an active warrant. Officer Zina Kelsch assisted with the arrests. A Bourne Police officer arrived on scene to obtain information for possible charges to be filed in Bourne and the stolen merchandise was recovered in the vehicle.
