Wareham police arrested woman wanted in Kansas

Wareham police detained a female victim in a car-pedestrian accident on Cranberry Highway who sustained minor injuries and had an active warrant for her arrest from Kansas.

Officers responded to Cranberry Highway near Red Brook Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on Tuesday, March 12, at 10:15 p.m., according to the police report.

While investigating the incident, Officers Justin Silveira and Blaise Lalli found out that the woman who was struck had an active warrant for her arrest from Wichita, Kansas. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in Kansas was contacted and confirmed the warrant. Rachel O’Donoghue, 38, of East Wareham, was arrested and transported to Tobey Hospital, police said. After treatment for minor injuries, she was brought to the police station and held without bail pending a court appearance on Wednesday morning.

O’Donoghue was charged with being a fugitive from justice on a court warrant.
