Wareham Police to host drug take back April 30

Apr 26, 2016

The Wareham Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration will host a drug take back on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is designed to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring pills for disposal to Wareham Police headquarters at 2515 Cranberry Highway Wareham. Liquids and needles will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

According to police, medicines inside home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
