Oct 28, 2018

Wareham Police arrested a 50-year-old Rockland man on Friday after he reportedly struck two other cars on Gibbs Avenue and fled.

The driver, Jeffrey Hiltz, now faces several charges in Wareham District Court including operating under the influence of liquor.

Officer Jennifer Braley responded to the crash around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 26 at which time Hiltz reportedly fled from the accident towards Marion Road.

Within minutes, police said they received another call that a heavily damaged car had pulled into a driveway on Broadmarsh Avenue.

Braley followed up at the address in question and found Hiltz along with his freshly damaged car.

After an investigation, Braley determined that Hiltz was impaired and needed medical attention. Wareham EMS arrived on scene and Hiltz was taken to Tobey Hospital for treatment.

Additional charges brought against Hiltz include negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
