Wareham Police say robbery suspect attacked, choked victim
A 39-year-old New Bedford man was arrested after police say he knocked a woman out of her shoes and choked another man at a Main Street apartment building on Wednesday during a robbery, according to police.
Jason Denwood is charged with unarmed robbery, assault and battery and strangulation after police located him roughly eight hours after the incident.
Police said officers received a report that a man and woman had been attacked, beaten and robbed at approximately 2 a.m. on Oct. 17.
One of the victims reported that he had been choked unconscious by the attacker, while a woman he was with had $800 stolen from her pocket. The woman reported that she was pushed so hard that she “came out of her sneakers,” according to a police press release.
After issuing a warrant for Denwood’s arrest, he was located and taken into custody at 10:45 a.m. in the Woods of Wareham apartment complex.
Denwood is scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court.
