Wareham Police thwart construction site burglary

Wareham Police interrupted an alleged burglary in progress early on Thursday, Aug. 30, at a construction site on Route 6, officials said.

Police responded to the site of the former Cranberry Cottage restaurant, which is being rebuilt following a fire last year, after receiving a call for suspicious activity at about 4:30 a.m..

At the scene, police said Officer Aaron Pacheco found man on the site who had driven there in a pickup truck with a concealed license plate. After an investigation, officers determined an attempted breaking and entering had been thwarted.

Emanuel Orrico, 58, of Wareham, was arrested and charged with: breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, possessing burglarious tools, trespassing and vandalizing property. Police noted Sgt. Daniel Henderson and Officer Peter Silvia assisted in the arrest and investigation.
