Wareham Police: Virginia man lied, drank alcohol in front of officers before arrest

Wareham Police said a Virginia man lied about his identity, drank from a nip in front of officers and called himself “Tyler Swabby” before being arrested on several charges on Sunday, Sept. 2.

Alexander Moustafa, 27, of Midlothian, Virginia, was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, providing a false Social Security number during the course of an arrest, interfering with the duties of a police officer and being fugitive from justice.

Police said at about 6 p.m., officers responded to the Wareham Fire Department on Main Street for an unwanted party. At the scene, Officers Calib Larue and Charles Pillsbury found Moustafa. Wareham Fire officials asked if he needed assistance prior to police arrival, and the man said, “no.” Police noted that Moustafa had been removed from the fire station earlier in the day, but had returned.

Police said Moustafa acted erratically, pacing around the lobby, and identified himself as Tyler Swabby. Officers found his identification, which had his proper name. When confronted by police, Moustafa said: “I lied because I may have a warrant in Virginia for hitting a cop.”

Moustafa then walked out of the fire station, but refused to leave the grounds. Police said he then pulled out a nip bottle and began drinking alcohol in front of the officers. He was then arrested. During the course of the investigation, police determined there was a warrant for his arrest from Rhode Island. Moustafa is due in court on Sept. 4. Police said calls to both the Virginia State Police and the Chester County Virginia police revealed no active warrants from Virginia for Moustafa.
