Wareham students Skype with Japan
Just moments after Caroline Kennedy, United States Ambassador to Japan, sent her greetings via Skype, Wareham students and a teacher did the same to an entire auditorium in Japan.
The call was held at Wareham Community Television on Main Street where Global Education advisor Matthew Stanton, and students Alana Nicoletti and Lizzie Ruiz asked Japanese students questions about themselves.

The event was held in honor of Captain John Kendrick - the first American to attempt trade with Japan, 225 years ago this year. The anniversary celebration took place in Kushimoto yesterday in the high school's auditorium.
Wareham Historical Society President, Angela Dunham, travelled to Kushimoto just days prior to the celebration and was the one who set up the call.
She sat on the stage of the auditorium in Japan with a Japanese teacher and seven students. After brief introductions, the students asked each other questions.
"What do you think of Japan?"
"Until recently, I haven't thought of other countries outside of America, but so far everyone seems nice."
"What is a typical day like in Japan?"
"I stay in school from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. I play track and field: long distance running."
"What kind of music do you listen to?"
"I like J[apanese]Rock."
"What kind of music do you like?"
"I like rock, country, pop... Elvis."
"Who's Elvis?"
"He's a famous rock musician, famous in the 60s."
