A Wareham woman was sentenced to over four years in prison for selling fentanyl to a 42-year-old man who died of an overdose.

Kayla Nightingale, 37, will also have to pay $7,868 in restitution to the victims family for funeral expenses and will serve three years of supervised release following her prison sentence.

Nightengale was arrested in August 2024 along with 40-year-old co-conspirator Troy Jones. Jones was sentenced to more than seven years in prison in December 2024 and ordered to pay a similar amount in restitution to the victim's family.

Jones and Nightingale worked together from January 2019 through at least April 3, 2019 to distribute fentanyl in Wareham, including to the Wareham man, who on April 2, 2019, died of an overdose.

“The state of Massachusetts is faced with a fentanyl crisis unlike ever before,” said DEA special Agent Brian D. Boyle. “Those responsible for distributing this lethal drug and contribute to the loss of life for those battling this addiction need to be held responsible for their actions.
