Warming Center to be opened at Multi-Service Center if needed
A warming center will be open in Wareham if needed during the blizzard, according to Wareham Police.
"In the event that power is disrupted for a prolonged period of time, the town will open a warming center at the Multi-Service Center, located at 48 Marion Road," said a police officials.
Police are requesting residents shelter in place and stressed that the warming center will be utilized on an "as needed basis" after power outages occur.
Police said this is center will only be used until residents can be transported to one of the regional shelters, which locations are to be determined.
If residents do evacuate their homes, police said they should bring with them blankets, sleeping bags and pillows, food and beverages and all medications as those items will not be provided at the warming center.
