Water Department work to begin off Sandwich Road
The Wareham Water Department is starting the installation of a new water main off of Sandwich Road, effecting service to Rogers Avenue and Campinha Way.
No disruption to service is expected during the work, said Water Department Superintendent Michael Martin.
Currently, the area is serviced by water pipes from 1936 and 1960, according to Martin. There is poor system hydraulics, low pressure, and no fire hydrants, he said.
The department will install new six-inch pipe with two new fire hydrants and replace the service lines for the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene and eight residences.
The budget for the project is approximately $25,000 — the design and budget for which was completed in-house during the winter months, Martin said.
"That saves us quite a bit of money," Martin said.
Water Department employees will complete the 1,400 feet of construction work. The project should be finished in approximately three weeks.
