Whoa baby! Tobey Hospital welcomes first birth of 2013
He may have been a week early, but he was right on time to snatch the title of the first baby born in Wareham for the new year.
Tobey Hospital’s first baby of 2013 is Jesse William Burke-Moran from Pembroke, who made his grand entrance into this world on Jan. 1 at 7:56 p.m., weighing 6 pounds and 15.5 ounces and measuring 21 inches long.
“I was really pushing for his due date, Jan. 7, because I’m a planner, but he had other plans,” said Jesse's mother, Catherine Baird.
“It was a nice surprise,” added Jesse’s father, Forrest Burke-Moran.
Burke-Moran and Baird are ballroom dancers, as well as the owners of the Fred Astaire Dance studio in Plymouth.
“All of our students are excited to meet him,” said Burke-Moran.
Burke-Moran said that while he wouldn’t mind seeing his son follow in his two-stepping footsteps, he wants him to follow his own ambitions. If he wants to pursue any artistic endeavor, he was certainly born into the right family.
“We’re pretty artistic people, so he has many options,” said Burke-Moran.
Swaddled in a blue and white blanket with a knit cap covering his newborn head, Jesse looked around the room as if wondering what all the commotion was about.
Although Jesse showed up a little early, having the baby at Tobey Hospital had been part of the plan for Baird who said: “We heard really good things about Tobey.”
