Wickets Inn adds fine dining
After nearly two years of renovations, Wickets Inn has reopened its full-service restaurant, which boasts seafood dishes with an international twist, seating for 150, and views of Onset Bay for all diners.
The Gilmore Room is open for dinner Thursday through Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Brunch is offered on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It officially opened for business on July 1.
The inaugural dinner menu, which will eventually be expanded, includes appetizers like stuffed avocado and asparagus tempura, various salads, as well as seared tuna and seafood saute (shrimp, scallops, tuna, and lobster over pasta) entrees.
"What I do is a New England flair with your seafood ... but use French techniques in stocks and sauces," said Executive Chef Phil Hahn. He also adds elements from Asian and Latin American cooking. "I just sort of bring it all together and have fun like that."
Hahn, a Marion resident, has more than 15 years of experience in the field. He trained in classic French cooking but said he loves Italian cooking.
"I like to tease the tongue," mixing hot and cold sensations with sweet and bitter flavors, Hahn said.
Hahn offered the following Stuffed Avocado recipe to Wareham Week and WarehamVillageSoup.com readers:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- 1/2 cup of lump crab meat
- 1 tsp lemon juice

- Cut the avocado in half along the pit and peel it out of its shell.
