William A. Glennon, 91

SAGAMORE BEACH – William A. Glennon, 91, of Sagamore Beach, died Saturday, November 11, 2023 peacefully in his home with his wife of 69 years, Nancy J. Glennon by his side.

Born in Chelsea MA, he was the son of the late Ann (Gorman) Nicewicz and William A. Glennon, Sr. Mr. Glennon graduated from Chelsea High School and received his bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University. A longtime resident of Amherst, NH, Mr. Glennon and his wife enjoyed summers at their home in Sagamore Beach before recently making the Cape their permanent home. 

After high school, Mr. Glennon joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict as a Damage Controlman 2nd class onboard the USS Macon (GA-132). After his Navy service, and receiving his degree from Northeastern University, Bill worked for the DuPont corporation as a plastics engineer for 38 years before retiring in 1995. Bill was a longtime parishioner of St. John Neumann Church in Merrimack, NH in addition to St. Margaret’s Church in Buzzards Bay. 

Bill was a prolific storyteller with a quick wit and a generous smile. He and Nancy were fixtures at the Lafayette Club in Nashua NH where they enjoyed parties and ballroom dancing with friends. Spending time with his extensive family was his greatest joy. He was always eager to be a part of any and all family events no matter the location or significance.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of Sagamore Beach; his children, Colleen Curtis (Larry) of Bear, DE, William A. Glennon (Bonnie) of Jarrettsville, MD, Sheilah Ruppert (Stephen) of Chester, MD, Patricia Stauffer (Jeffrey) of Clayton, DE, Denis Glennon of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Kathleen Bernlohr (James) of Arnold, MD; 15 grandchildren, Daniel (Adrienne), Elizabeth, Travis (Liz), Brian, Sean, Kyle (Jessica), Connor, Neil, Casey (Chris), Frank, Bradley, Drew, William, Luke, and Gordon. His grandson Lee predeceased him and is survived by his wife Anne; his great grandchildren, William, Drew, Peter, Penelope, Emma, Charley, Cameron, Birdie and Olive. Also surviving are his siblings, Mary Casucci of Chelsea, Catherine Pascarelli of Quincy, and Thomas Glennon of Onset. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late Dennis Glennon, Murdock Glennon and Walter Glennon and his sister, the late Dorothy Roloff.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 to 7 PM, and again from 9 to 11 AM prior to a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Thursday at St. Margaret of Scottland Church, 141 Main St., Buzzards Bay at 11:30 AM. A graveside committal for the immediate family will be held on Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Everett.
