Winifred Theresa Holford, 90
Winifred Theresa (Cruz) Holford, 90, of Boston, formerly of Wareham, died July 25, at her home. She was the wife of Lloyd W. Holford. They were married for 36 years. She was the daughter of the late John B. and Carolina (Pina) Cruz.
She was born in Wareham and lived in Boston since 1946. She graduated from Wareham High School.
Mrs. Holford was the owner of Connolly’s Jazz Club in Boston from the 1960s until her retirement in 1998.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd W. Holford of Boston; 2 daughters, Veronica Lopes Lytle of Martha’s Vineyard and Kym Lew Nelson of Cincinnati; a step-daughter, Leslie Holford Squires of Milford; 3 brothers, Wilfred “Fifi” Cruz of Washington, D.C., Daniel “Sonny” Cruz of Brockton and Walter “Bubba” Cruz of Wareham; a sister, Andrea Rose of Mattapoisett; 3 sisters-in-law, Stella Fonseca Cruz of Boston, Sadie Cruz of Brockton, and Edith Deas of Boston; 5 grandchildren, Monica Lytle Lyle, Shawn Lytle, Alexis Nelson, Sydney Nelson, and Cameron Squires; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many loving friends.
She was the sister of the late Walter Cruz (eldest), Harold Cruz, Doris Vincent, John “Bertie” Cruz, Priscilla Martin, Bertha May, Richard “Dickie” Cruz, Thelma Franklin, Gerald Pina, Geraldine Pina, and Daniel Cruz.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. Visiting hours are from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday.
