So much for March going "out like a lamb."

Monday morning saw a snow accumulation of just four to six inches, according to the National Weather Service, though a walk around the neighborhood revealed there to be between one and two inches on the ground.

However, in anticipation of between six and 10 inches, Wareham schools were closed for the day. The town also instituted a parking ban at 9 p.m. Sunday, which remained in effect until 11 a.m. Monday.

The service had originally called for between six and 10 inches in its reports Sunday.

The National Weather Service had issued a winter storm warning that begans at 7 p.m. on Sunday, and ends at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Board of Selectmen Chairman Patrick Tropeano said on Sunday the town had already begun storm preparations. Though the town had expected some outages, he said there were no reported outages Monday morning.

He said the town had salted the roads early, too, so "we didn't even need to bring out the plows."

"We are on top of this all the time," Tropeano said. "We don't want anyone to have any issues. We will deal with it as it comes."

Town Administrator Derek Sullivan said Sunday the town will be under normal snow and ice removal operations.

"This storm is just later in the year," Sullivan said in an email.

The service predicted the highest amounts of snow in the Wareham area. Snowfall was heaviest overnight, it said.

Winds were only expected to reach between 5 and 15 miles per hour, but visibility was expected to be a quarter mile or less, the service said.

It also said the temperature will be in the lower 30s.
