Winter youth basketball leagues tip off at the YMCA
The Gleason Family YMCA is offering several youth basketball leagues that will be held on Saturdays throughout the winter.
Registration for the Youth Basketball League is available through Dec.14, with games starting on Dec. 20. There will be no games during Christmas week.
The leagues are broken down into the following age groups:
Mighty-Mites Division Co-ed for Preschool ages 4-5 years old
Saturday mornings are the perfect time for young children to learn real basketball skills. Kids will learn basketball skills while practicing for thirty minutes with volunteer coaches and playing for thirty minutes to develop a feel for the game. Members cost: $68, general public: $89. Mighty Mites runs on Saturdays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Y Rookies, Boys & Girls Ages 6-8
The second level of the Youth Basketball League is where teams practice weekly in a mixed clinic with games on Saturday. This league includes a team shirt and trophy. Members cost: $89, general public: $119. Games are on Saturdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Y Ballers, Boys & Girls Ages 9-12
The third tier of youth basketball. Teams will practice weekly in a mixed clinic with games on Saturdays. Members cost: $89, general public: $119. Games are Saturdays 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
