A woman was transported to Tobey Hospital for treatment of hypothermia Thursday evening after she apparently fell in the frigid waters of the Cohasset Narrows off of Jefferson Shores Road in Onset.

The unidentified woman reportedly screamed for help after plunging into the water at roughly 7:30 p.m. A neighbor called Wareham Police.

"We were told that she'd gone out for a walk and had gone down to the beach, and from what we could see, she'd gone out [onto the ice] about 25 feet and fell into the ice," said Onset Fire Department Deputy Chief Jeffrey Osswald.

Osswald said the woman was able to pull herself out of the water.
