Working together for a better Wareham
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter in response to recent blog posts that attempt to politicize past events. Please note that I have not blogged since my appointment to the Finance Committee in June of 2011. It is my belief that committees and boards should speak with one voice. I support this concept and hope that other boards and committees will do the same.
The taxpayers and voters of Wareham deserve leadership that works towards a consensus rather than pursuing personal agendas that create division and confusion.
I cannot and will not deny the comments I made in reference to the Charter Review Committee. In my eyes, despite the volume and effort of their work, the Charter Review Committee as a whole failed in its assignment. It is as simple as that.
Based on the vote of Town Meeting, a majority of voters agreed with my opinion. However, I see that as the past. Since that time I have had several opportunities to successfully discuss issues and work with various committee members, particularly Alan Slavin.
I find that Alan has an excellent grasp of the rules and laws that govern Wareham. We have found common ground on many issues facing Wareham. I admire his work ethic and approach.
Any attempt to dredge up past issues is a political tactic or a desperate attempt to smear a candidate that has been able to sit down and bring all sides together. While others spoke about accomplishing this, Alan has been successful. Actions always speak louder than words.
I would encourage all readers to attend the Finance Committee meetings or watch the replay of our meetings on WCTV.
