Learn about the history of the Lower Narrows District

Local historian Linda Ames and the Wareham Historical Society will host a presentation about the long and storied history of downtown Wareham's Lower Narrows District on Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m.

The presentation will take place at the Old Methodist Meeting House, located at 495 Main Street.

"Wharfside: Two Centuries of History" will focus on businesses that have operated in the district, such as Franconia Iron and Steel, the New Bedford and Onset Street Railway, British Landing Condominiums, and more.

The area was also a hotbed for British attacks during the War of 1812.

Admission is free for Wareham Historical Society members, and $2 for the general public. Refreshments will be served.
