Selectmen to negotiate contract extension with town administrator
The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to enter into contract extension negotiations with Town Administrator Derek Sullivan.
Sullivan signed a one year deal in January 2013 to enter into a one year deal with the town.
"I think that I can safely say that everyone I've talked with thinks this gentleman has done an outstanding job," said Selectman Judy Whiteside, adding that he has dealt with a pile of "manure" since taking the reins as Town Administrator.
Selectman Patrick Tropeano voted in favor of entering into negotiation, but said he'd also like to see some sort performance review done as well.
"I think he's going to be a phenomenal Town Administrator but at some point we need to treat him as a Town Administrator completely...and make sure he has performance reviews."
Sullivan holds a Master's of Public Administration from the Suffolk University Sawyer School of Management, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island. Before stepping into the interim town administrator position, he served as the town's financial analyst.
