Fire causes $85,000 in damage to East Wareham home

A fire in a crawl space that extended into the first floor of an East Wareham summer cottage caused $85,000 in damage on Wednesday, August 21.

The blaze, which was determined to be accidental, broke out at 24 Pine Lake Drive at approximately 8:45 p.m., according to Wareham Fire officials.

A total of 24 firefighters responded to the scene. Eight were fighting the fire, which was deemed extinguished at 12:03 a.m.

No one was injured, though the home was occupied, according to officials.

The Onset Fire Department provided station coverage for Wareham during the incident.
