Ryan A. Goldie, 28

SPC Ryan A. Goldie USA, 28, of Ft. Bliss, Texas formerly of Wareham, died Sunday, Dec. 22, of non-combat injuries.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of Karen Goldie-Almeida of Wareham and George Goldie of Wareham. Ryan graduated from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School and worked as a plumber’s apprentice.

Ryan joined the U.S. Army in 2010 and graduated from United States Army Infantry School in Ft. Benning, Ga. Previously stationed in Germany, he served in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Currently, he was stationed in Ft. Bliss, Texas with HHC, 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division. While serving his country, Ryan received the, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Ryan enjoyed motorcycles and was a founding member of Bad Larry’s Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed the beach and spending time at Sandy Neck in Barnstable.

Survivors include his mother, Karen Goldie-Almeida and her husband Kevin of Wareham; his father, George Goldie of Wareham; two brothers, Corey Goldie and his wife Darilyn of Wareham and Kieth Goldie and his wife Nancy of Stoughton and his maternal grandmother, Jane Robidoux of Wareham; two nephews, Andrew and Cole Goldie; a niece, Kiara Goldie; and his cousins, Gary Harlow, Daniel Laureano, Joanne Andrade, Tyler Robidoux and Trevor Robidoux.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday Jan. 11 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 1 to 4 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date.
