A grant for $32,000 has been awarded to Wareham Public Schools in hopes to improves the schools' performance on the MCAS tests.
The grant comes from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as part of its Collaborative Partnerships for Student Success program, according to State Senator Marc Pacheco.
The grant program aims to help young high school students improve MCAS test scores, specifically in the areas of supporting English Language Arts, mathematics, science and technology/engineering education, to create a service-learning curriculum and to support college and career readiness programming.
According to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the grant should provide students with small group instruction that will help them pass the MCAS test.
“I am pleased we are putting the supports in place for Wareham students to not only meet, but to exceed the Commonwealth’s standards for a quality high school education,” Pacheco said. “This grant program will help make sure all students coming up through the Wareham public school system have access to the tools they need to prepare for life after high school, whether they go on to college or to a career.”
