James H. Murphy, 74, of Wareham, died March 12, in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford. He was the husband of Rose M. (Porrino) Murphy and the son of the late Francis W. and Marion (Lynch) Murphy.

He was born in Lowell and lived in Weymouth before moving to Wareham in 1967.

Murphy worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 223 in Lakeville for many years before retiring.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling. He was a member of the Lions Club in Wareham.

Survivors include his wife, Rose M. (Porrino) Murphy; a daughter, Karen Santo and her husband Chris of Easton; a son, Michael Murphy and his wife Leslee of North Attleboro; a brother, Francis W. “Bud” Murphy, Jr. and his wife Liz of North Ft. Myers, FL; 4 grandchildren, Connor and Brendan Murphy and Gianna and Matthew Santo; several nephews and nieces.

His funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in Pine Hills Cemetery, W. Bridgewater.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
