Onset carnival on 'til Sunday
Rides, games, cotton candy, and candy apples are on the way! A carnival will be at Lopes Field in Onset from August 18 to August 22.
Sponsored by the Onset Bay Association (OBA) and run by Rockwell Amusements, admission to the carnival is free. Attendees pay for rides, games, and food. The carnival will be open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets for rides can be purchased for $1 each, and are discounted when purchased in bundles of 25 or 40. Rides cost three to four tickets each.
A ride special will run on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Carnival-goers can go on an unlimited number of rides for $20.
Onset has not seen a carnival for many years. "I think Onset is a perfect place for a carnival," said OBA member Theresa O'Neill, who helped in the effort to bring the event to the village. "Getting new business into town, getting things to do ... benefits the [village], it benefits the residents," she said.
