Cosmo J. DiPerna, 80, of Onset, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the V.A. Boston Health System. He was the husband of Deborah (Sherrard) DiPerna.

Born in Italy, the son of the late Frank & Civitia (Fedele) DiPerna, Mr. DiPerna came to the United States in 1948. He moved to Wareham in 1978.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1954 to 1973 and retired as Master Sergeant.

Mr. DiPerna was employed for Columbia Packing in Boston for 38 years and for Pearl Packing in Boston retiring in 1990. He was a member of Elks Lodge # 1974, Lake Wales, FL, the Sons of Italy and the V.F.W.

He is survived by his wife; his son, Jonathan DiPerna of Onset; and his sister, Mina Malarcria of Norwood. He was predeceased by his daughter, the late Kara Lynn DiPerna.

A graveside service will be held at the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date.
