Benjamin Frank Baptista, 87, of Wareham, died June 12, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was the widower of the late Virginia B. (Oliveira) Baptista and the son of the late Frank and Candida (Lopes) Baptista.

He was born in Wareham and lived there most of his life.

Mr. Baptista worked at Ocean Spray Cranberry Company for many years.

He enjoyed offering wisdom and advice and many people were drawn to him.

Survivors include his son, Vernon J. Baptista and his wife, Kathren M. of Wareham; his daughter, Candida Baptista of Wareham; a sister, Mary Montrond of East Wareham; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Benjamin “Jack” Baptista and his siblings, Jennie Filkins, Marlene Fernandes and James Baptista.

His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High Street, Wareham.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
