Jo Jeffries, 70
Jo Jeffries, 70, of Wareham, died Saturday June 21 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gordon & Idella (Easman) Henning. Jo grew up in the northeast. She helped her father develop and run Reed Boy Scout Camp in the New York Adirondacks. Jo also lived and worked in London, England as the US Representative for a US/UK magazine publications firm. She was a previous resident of Trumbull, CT before moving to Wareham in 1997.
Jo worked as legal secretary for Attorney Edward Kiernan in Wareham and then became a real estate agent and worked for Crowley Real Estate in E. Wareham. Active on many committees in Wareham, Jo was a board member for Wareham Community and Economic Development (CEDA).
She was a member of the First Congregational Church and enjoyed her life in Wareham. She loved her family, friends, and pets as well as gardening, history and reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah C. Rogers and her husband Craig of E. Wareham; her son, Edward T. Carroll and his wife Jennifer of Ellenville, NY; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Spencer Rogers and Amanda, Thomas, Rit and Rebecca Carroll; her dear companion, Larry “Captain” Raymond of Orlando, FL and her beloved dog Foster.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, June 28 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham from 3 to 6 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. Burial will be private.
