Man in critical condition after being struck by vehicle
A Plymouth man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle Monday night while crossing Cranberry Highway, according to the Wareham Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at 10:30 p.m. to the Buttermilk Bay Inn at 3224 Cranberry Highway following a report of a disturbance at the business by an intoxicated man.
While en route to the location, officers were notified that the man, Arthur J. Myatt, 50, of Plymouth, had been struck by a vehicle as he crossed the road in the vicinity of the Buttermilk Bay Inn. As of Tuesday evening Myatt is still in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers saw the man lying in the roadway with extensive injuries from the accident. The man reportedly was hit following the disturbance.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Michael McKenna Jr. of Sagamore Beach, cooperated with officers at the scene of the accident.
Police have not identified the injured man, who was brought to Tobey Hospital after being treated by Wareham EMS. He was then airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital via Med-Flight.
Wareham Police and the Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating the accident.
