And scene! 'Ted 2' wraps up filming in Wareham
Just like that, the cast and crew of "Ted 2" have left the building.
By 11:30 p.m. Thursday, the only remains of a movie shoot coming to Wareham were three cherry pickers, two port-a-potties, and the still-altered but glowing neon "DINER" sign atop the Tremont Mill Pond Diner. No more yellow "base camp" signs on telephone poles, no police details, no trailers tucked behind the high school, no crowds. No more Hollywood.
Wareham residents did get the chance to see their very own, Boston-bred movie star Mark Wahlberg, as well as all of the hullabaloo that comes with a Hollywood production. Crowds ranging from 50-100 people gathered on the outskirts of the diner Wednesday and Thursday, waiting to catch a glimpse of the Hollywood star.
Patrick Brady saw Wahlberg leaving the diner on Thursday.
"Yeah, it was pretty cool," said Brady. "It's exciting to see someone famous in Wareham."
"We were here this morning then left for lunch and came back," said resident Melissa Moody from under her umbrella, undeterred by a Thursday afternoon rainstorm.
"We wanted to see Mark Wahlberg," added her friend Maryanne Abruzzi.
There were various types of cranes, trucks, lights and other heavy equipment on scene and trailers for the cast and crew were set up at Wareham High School. The Gateway Tavern reportedly provided food service for the shoot.
"When these movies come into Massachusetts, we employ a lot of local people," said a Boston man working with the transportation crew. "We help out all the local mom-and- pop places."
"Ted 2,” is a sequel to the edgy 2012 comedy “Ted.” That film saw a potty-mouthed, talking teddy bear named Ted get between Wahlberg’s character and his girlfriend, played by Mila Kunis.
