Town hall moves to four-day week on Sept. 29

Town Hall is moving to a four-day work week and expanding its evening hours as of Monday, Sept. 29 according to Town Administrator Derek Sullivan.

The building will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Tuesday from 8:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and closed on Fridays.

"We're excited to offer the residents the expanded hours to help them complete their town hall business during the work week," said Sullivan. "The additional benefits to the town are that we anticipate savings in utility costs by having town hall closed for three consecutive days."

Sullivan said beach, dump and parking stickers will still be available five days a week at the Harbormaster's office in the Multi-Service Center. He also thanked the unions for working with administration on helping expand the hours of town hall operations.

Selectman Peter Teitelbaum said that while this will likely help people come to Town Hall after work, this was mainly done as a cost saving measure.

"I just hope that other departments in town are also looking to save costs and make some of the hard decisions this board and our administrator have made," he said.

"This is the first of hopefully many changes we'll be making in order to streamline the business operation of the town and trying to conserve expenses where we can," said Selectman Alan Slavin.
