Lionel R. Botelho, 77
Lionel R. Botelho, 77, of West Wareham died Saturday, September 13, at Tobey Hospital in Wareham after a long illness.
Born in Dighton, he was the son of the late Antone and Mary (Bernardo) Botelho. A previous resident of Taunton, Mr. Botelho moved to Wareham 40 years ago.
Mr. Botelho worked as an electrician and owned and operated his own electrical contracting business. He was also formerly employed for Fernandes Supermarket and Tremont Nail Company in Wareham.
Mr. Botelho served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He was a member of the Improved Order of Red Men, Cromesett Tribe # 156 in Wareham. He enjoyed clamming, quahogging, gardening, football and spending time at his home in New Hampshire.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen M. Botelho and his wife Lisa of Berkley and Anthony R. Botelho and his wife Donna of Taunton; his long-time companion, Alice Akins of W. Wareham and her children, Victoria Akins, Cynthia Akins and Watie Akins; his grandchildren, Stephen M. Botelho, Jr. and Nicole Botelho; his great grandchildren, Riley and Maddox Botelho; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Joseph Botelho.
A funeral service will be held on Wed., September 17 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
