Carmen (Furtado) Guay, 91

Carmen (Furtado) Guay, 91, of Wareham and formerly of Taunton, died September 27 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab. Center in Wareham after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald R. Guay.

Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Antone and Emelia (Cotta) Furtado, she was educated in the Taunton Public Schools and graduated from Taunton High School in 1941. She moved to Wareham in 2004.

Mrs. Guay worked as a summer camp director for the Girl Scouts. She also worked as an assistant manager for the former Sackett Card and Gift Store.

Mrs. Guay was a former member of the Tobey Hospital Guild in Wareham and the Wareham Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her sister, the late Mrs. Elsie (John) Semas, owner of the former Lee’s Millinery Store in Taunton.

Survivor include her two daughters, Pamela Clendenin and her husband Don, of Statesville, NC and Jocelyn LaBouliere and her husband Peter of Wareham; two grandsons, Mark Clendenin and his wife Kennette of NC and Daniel LaBouliere; a great-grandson Graham Clendenin of NC and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Thurs., Oct. 2 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Knoll Cemetery in E. Taunton. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
