Cranberry harvest to take place this weekend
Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to stop by the A.D. Makepeace Company cranberry bogs this weekend for the 11th annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration.
The festival, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, features old-fashioned activities and whose admission fee includes bogside demonstrations and cranberry-related activities, was designated as one of the Top 100 Events in North America by an experienced expert tourism industry selection committee.
Inclusion in the Top 100 list indicates that the Celebration offers entertainment value to both tour groups and individual travelers from around the world, according to the survey’s sponsor, the American Bus Association. The Celebration is also listed as one of the tope six fall food festivals in Yankeemagazine.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day rain or shine. Visitors will be able to view demonstrations of the wet cranberry harvest, cooking demonstrations, an enormous tent full of juried crafters, paddleboat rides on scenic Tihonet Pond, food vendors, music, and more.
The 11th Annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration is hosted by the A.D. Makepeace Company and co-sponsored by the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers’ Association and Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc.
Admission is $10, $5 for seniors and military, and children under 7 are free.
The event will be held at A.D. Makepeace Company Headquarters at Tihonet Village, 158 Tihonet Road. There will be free parking available. No pets are allowed.
