Trunk-or-Treat returns to Lopes Field for Halloween
The Onset Foursquare Church will host its fourth annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Friday, Oct. 31, at Lopes Field in Onset from 6 to 8 p.m.
Organizers bill the event as a safe, fun, free, family-oriented alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.
The event features 10 to 15 cars, trucks or vans spread around Lopes Field with trunks decorated according to a theme chosen by the vehicle owner. Past themes have included sports, movies – such as “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” music, rocket ships and even an invisible Wonder Woman theme.
Trunk or Treaters follow a designated path to view all the decorated trunks and get their treats. Carnival type games and refreshments are also part of the evening.
“Not Building Church, Building People” is the motto of the Onset Foursquare Church,” said said Senior Pastor Gerald A. Fernandes. "Trunk or Treat is a very practical application of that motto as we build relationships through a simple fun activity that fills a need in our community.”
