Wareham woman reportedly involved in Carver hit-and-run
An unidentified Wareham woman was reportedly the operator of a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday evening involving 14-year-old Carver girl, according to Carver police.
According to police, the girl was struck by a motor vehicle near 34 Main Street in Carver, with the vehicle continuing south down Route 58. The victim had been walking with friends, who were able to give police an account of what had happened. The victim was transported by Carver EMS to Boston Medical Center, according to police, and did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
Police said that parts of the vehicle that had struck the girl were recovered at the scene, and based on the evidence, they were able to determine the make and model of the vehicle. Carver police then put out a notification to area departments, and as a result, Wareham police and Massachusetts State Police were able to locate the vehicle at a residence in Wareham.
The driver, who was unidentified in the report, was said to be in her 70s.
The incident is still under investigation by Sgt. Sheri Sarmento of the Carver Police Department.
