Proposed assessed property values available at Assessors Office

Nov 17, 2014

The Town of Wareham has been given permission to hold public disclosure prior to preliminary certification from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue for the fiscal year 2015 triennial revaluation of all real and personal property. The values are pending approval by the Department of Revenue.

The proposed values will be available for public view from Nov. 12 to Nov. 20 at the Wareham Town Hall Assessor’s Office, the Wareham Free Library, and on the Town of Wareham website www.wareham.ma.us.

The main function of the Assessors Office is to value the 16,600 real and personal property accounts in the town. By law, the valuation is based on "fair cash value," the amount a willing buyer pays a willing seller on the open market. The valuations are used to allocate the taxes needed to fund each year's budget among the community's taxpayers.

More information on the proposed values can be found on the Assessors Office website. A list of the proposed assessed values can be seen here.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the proposed assessed values, can contact the Wareham Assessors Office at (508)-291-3160. The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
