John C. Avila, Jr., 20

John C. Avila, Jr., 20, of West Wareham, died Sunday, November 23 at his home unexpectedly.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of Carrie A. Fafard of West Wareham and John C. Avila, Sr. of Berkley.

John played little league baseball in Wareham as a child. He was a self-taught musician and played both electric and acoustic guitar. John enjoyed playing chess and poker, coin collecting and writing poetry. He also spent his time looking to help others.

He is survived by his mother Carrie of W. Wareham; his father, John C., Sr. and his wife Dawn of Berkley; his sister, Rachel C. Avila of W. Wareham; his brother, Jacob Avila of Berkley; his maternal grandparents, William and Cheryl Fafard of W. Wareham; his paternal grandparents, Sandra and Stephen Avila of Lakeville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Fri., Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Middleboro. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
