Michael A. Reidy, 58, of New Bedford, died Saturday, January 31 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria D. (Goncalves) Reidy.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late James F. and Jeanette (Lane) Reidy. Mr. Reidy was employed as a retail manager for the former Zayre and Ames department stores.

Survivors include his wife Maria; his children, Tara Reidy and Sonja Reidy, both of Middleboro, and Joshua Reidy of New Bedford; his brother, James F. Reidy II of Wareham and Vicki A. Prevost of New Bedford.  He is also survived by four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, the late Nancy J. Allen.

His funeral will from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Thurs., Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Wed. from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham at a later date.
