Michael L. Chapman, 62

Michael L. Chapman, 62, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at his home in East Wareham unexpectedly. He was the best friend and beloved husband of Lisa A. (Gudalewicz) Chapman.

Born in Pasadena, CA, he was the son of Elizabeth (Wilson) Chapman of Neosho, MO and the late Michael R. Chapman. Mike graduated from Middleboro High School, Class of 1970. He was employed as a truck driver for T.L. Edwards in Avon for over 30 years.

Mike was active in automobile racing for many years. He was a pit crew member and crew chief for several NASCAR Modified Series and ARCA teams. Mike was race director for both Thompson and Seekonk Speedways and also worked as a spotter at Daytona International Speedway.

A former charter boat captain, he enjoyed saltwater fishing, quahogging and kayaking and walking trails in Wareham and along the Cape Cod Canal. He also enjoyed fishing and shrimping along the Intracoastal Waterway in Edgewater, FL.

Mike was an amazing man to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Lisa A. Chapman, his son, Stephen Chapman of Bridgewater; his daughters, Cynthia Chapman and her husband, James Woyciechowski of Sterling, CT and Diana Chapman of Boston; his mother, Elizabeth Chapman of Neosho, MO; his sister, Kathryn Cornell of Neosho, MO; his grandchildren, Sadie Marie Chapman and Dustin Chapman. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Kenneth Chapman.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Sun., February 22, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Burial will be private.
