Two people were airlifted to safety after a serious car crash on Marion Road across from Cranberry Cottage in Wareham late Monday night.

According to emergency broadcast reports, the two unconscious victims were trapped in the vehicle, which had crashed into a utility pole. One of the victims was transported by a MedFlight helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital, while the other was transported, also by a MedFlight helicopter, to an area trauma center.

Both have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to reports.

The Wareham Police Department is still investigating the accident.
