Manuel Amado, Sr., 93

Manuel Amado, Sr., 93, of Onset, died Friday, July 17 at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of Marie T. (Fernandes) Amado.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late Maria Louisa (Neves) and Leon Souto Amado. Mr. Amado was a master journeyman plumber and worked for Plumbers and Gasfitters Local 51. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving from 1942 to 1945.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Linda Gomes of Onset, Sheila Pocknett of Los Angeles, California, Toni Santos of Wareham, Nikki Oliveira of Onset, Manny Amado, Jr. of Wareham, Marylou Amado-Pires of Marion, Mark Amado of San Diego, California, Tracy Amado of New Bedford, Carla Amado-Johnson of New Bedford, Myrna Amado of Onset and Keith Amado of Studio City, California; his sister, Olive Andrews of Onset and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sons, the late Caesar and Joe; his brothers, the late Edward, James, Frank and Domingo Amado; his sisters, the late Amelia, Lottie and Netty Amado and his granddaughter, Ashley.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway on Tuesday, July 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral service and burial on Wednesday will be private.
