Wareham man arrested after allegedly trying to steal air conditioners
A Wareham man was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal air conditioning units from two stores in East Wareham Saturday morning.
According to Wareham police, Mark Robbins Jr., 29, was arrested and charged with larceny over $250 with regards to incidents at Stop & Shop and Home Depot on Cranberry Highway.
Police said officers responded to a call at Stop & Shop at 10:53 a.m. Saturday regarding an alleged shoplifter who left the store with two air conditioners that he then left behind, when confronted by store security in the parking lot.
Police said Robbins then left the area in a silver Toyota sedan, and was found across the street at Home Depot. Officers saw Robbins exiting the store with an air conditioner and placing it in his car.
Police said after determining that the air conditioner was not paid for, officers placed Robbins under arrest. Robbins was scheduled to be arraigned at Wareham District Court on Monday, Aug. 3.
