Ninety Nine Restaurant helps out Boys & Girls Club
During the month of October, workers at the Ninety Nine Restaurant on Cranberry Highway served up a little help for the Boys & Girls Club along with their meals.
As part of a company-wide effort to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Wareham's local Ninety Nine raised $1,091 for Wareham's local Boys & Girls Club.
"It was awesome," said Matt Perry, one of the managers of the Cranberry Highway Ninety Nine. "We had a lot of fun with it."
A dollar from the sale of one of the restaurant's sandwiches and its special Halloween entrées were donated to the cause. Employees also raised money through donations and the sale of Boys & Girls Club rubber bracelets.
In celebration of the event, employees got to trade in their traditional button-down uniform shirts for Boys & Girls Club t-shirts on the weekends. They also donned the Boys & Girls Club/Ninety Nine Restaurant rubber bracelets.
Barbara Sullivan, Unit Director for the Wareham Boys & Girls Club, said the money will be used to pay for operational expenses like electricity and heat.
"Grants seem to be most prevalent to fund Boys & Girls Club programs, but funds for operational costs are a little more difficult to come by," Sullivan said. "That's an area that we are sorely hurting in."
The Wareham Boys & Girls Club has been a recipient of donations from the Ninety Nine Restaurant for the past three years, since the club became a chartered member of the national Boys & Girls Club organization.
"It's a wonderful event," Sullivan said, expressing her gratitude for the Ninety Nine Restaurants. "It's really, really, great to have those funds coming in."
